Eugene, Ore.
— A medical center is holding a safety training event for car rentals and the rental industry at its campus in Eugene, Oregon.
The event is expected to begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday and will be streamed live on YouTube.
A representative for the University of Oregon Medical Center said they have a number of events planned including one this week for a workshop for car renters.
In addition to the safety training, the center is hosting a car rental and truck stop on its campus, called the CarRental Store, which will offer rentals to students and employees, as well as to the general public.
There will also be an event called “CarRental Awareness Week” to educate residents on the dangers of car rentals.
On Monday, the university said the center has received several calls about car rental scams, including one that claimed to be from the University and that a person with a concealed weapon was threatening a student and their families.
“I have received numerous calls from Oregon students and members of the community who have called the university with similar concerns about car rentals,” said Jennifer Stott, assistant vice president for marketing and communications.
