A car rental company is opening a website in Sydney to help people on lower incomes find affordable cars.
The CarRentalGroup website was launched on Monday, which allows people to register with their preferred company and choose a car rental provider.
It will then contact them for a quote and a quote of a maximum of $1,500, depending on their circumstances.
People on the lower end of the economic scale will pay $1.35 per kilometre.
For people who earn more than $100,000, they will pay around $1 a kilometre more.
The company’s CEO, Paul McGlashan, said he was looking for people who could be part of the new market.
“I think people who are on the low end and can afford a $100k car, you might have to do a little bit more and it might cost more,” he said.
“For someone who’s earning $100 a week, it’s probably a little cheaper.”
The company is also looking for more people to join its network of car rental agencies.
Anyone with a $1k car or truck is eligible for the new service.
