Car rentals are not allowed in Tulum, Quezon City and Marawi City, despite a law allowing them in those areas.
In the case of Marawi, a court order was issued for the closure of the city.
The city council passed a resolution prohibiting car rentals in both Marawi and Tulum on October 12, 2017.
The law stipulates that the use of vehicles to rent cars in Tulu, Quezano, and Lanao del Norte are prohibited.
In Marawi it was decided to temporarily suspend the law.
“The City Council has decided to suspend the Marawi-Tulum rental ban,” Mayor Richard Martinez told reporters on Monday.
“This ban will be lifted only after further investigation and review.”
Martinez added that the city would “continue to investigate all complaints” regarding car rentals and will take appropriate action, if any, if necessary.
Car rentals are legal in Marawi city and the surrounding areas but are prohibited in Lanao Del Norte, Lanao, and Tulu provinces.
